Liza Lou at Neuberger Museum of Art
‘Liza Lou: Color Field and Solid Grey’ at the Neuberger Museum of Art brings together the artist’s largest sculpture to date, Color Field, 2012-13, as well as Lou’s ‘Gray’ and ‘Color/White’ canvases.
Color Field was made in Durban, South Africa, created with a team of nearly 30 Zulu bead-workers. This dazzling installation, made up of thousands of stainless steel wires sheathed in over two million glass beads, is arranged in a grid of coloured squares. This huge piece covering around 1,400 square feet carpets nearly the entire floor of the gallery’s largest room has been recreated at the Neuberger Museum under Lou’s direction.
