Painting with flowers – The Chelsea Flower Show
One of the highlights of the London Season;
The Chelsea Flower Show is always a treat for the senses.
The weather held out for our visit and we were able to view all the show homes at our leisure.
Stand out designs were ‘RBC Waterscape Garden‘ (above left), designed by Hugo Bugg
(a Gold Medalist at just 27 and one to watch!) and ‘Hope on the Horizon’ (above right), designed by Matt Keightley. Both combined strong graphic elements with soft planting, creating a serene and sophisticated space to enjoy the outdoors.
As ever there were many delights throughout the show with designers of furniture, gardening tools and plants vying for attention and sales. Amongst the photos below you will see two particularly strong sculptural works that caught our attention: a majestic double arc of steel and water by Batholomew Landscaping and the marble ‘Kissing Profiles’ by Paul Vanstone, a theme close to our heart as you can see in our rug; ‘The Kiss’.
The end of the afternoon is always fun to watch as exhibitors sell off their wares to excited visitors who then struggle home carrying trees! For us a perfect day out was capped with a fabulous meal al fresco at one of our favourite local restaurants, The Orange.
